Thank goodness I finished the holly as it is kind of a minimalist Christmas around here. Sciatica nerve issues since October, now know is a bulging disc. So only a new to us small tree and nativity set from my mom made it out as decorations. So happy that she gave me the nativity now...loved it growing up. The only thing missing is the real straw we would bring in for the manger.
Spent some time in the studio and finished two Blackbird pieces. Both mom and I had stitched these. Then mom sent me a picture of the wool applique white pumpkin pillow and the Rebekah Smith huswife I had done in April in Ohio. I had finished all the stitching and mom put the binding on. A very productive month.
Mom got a new floor in the kitchen and dining room. We were hanging things for her and she had this quilt she was going to hang in her studio. I suggested handing it in the dining room as the new wall paint would go well with the quilt colors. The quilt is wool applique on cotton.
Cool Saturday night and the roar of the lawn mowers. Both nephews race, but last night it was just Brandon. It was a great night and so much fun to watch. They go really fast and we saw several wrecks.
Fall decorations are slowly making their way out. On the list for tomorrow. But the wool things were easy to start with and make me happy.
Summer work party for Paul was another Twins game - we went two years ago as well. We had Friday off to visit two great wool shops in western Wisconsin. Red Wool in Rice Lake had another woman visiting with her Newfoundland dog. As the shop is at her house, the dog was outside. Made for something fun for Paul to watch. Her room was amazing....I told Paul if he could build me that room I would never ask for anything again! We had time to visit the Leinenkugal brewery as well. Very fun and Paul enjoyed the tastings.
And of course we visited our favorite train watching spot in St Paul. I enjoy my wool applique while we watch.
Another great adventure.
This should be my final year of Nantuckets. I am running out of room. This year I wove a 10" potbelly lamp and a medium Lizzie. It's been so much fun to weave the nantuckets all these years and will hopefully take a road trip next year to visit with my weaving friends.
My mom...here in our first selfie...helped me finish these two fun projects. Or lets just say SHE finished and I was a tiny bit of helper. One is the Shepherds Bush fold project...borrowed pattern with my over dyed threads and buttons. The other is the Needleworker cross stitch pattern attached to the liner of a longaberger Boardwalk basket. Love them both and so excited that I finished the shaker box top in record time. Guess binge watching the first season of House of Cards does have its advantages.

Monica gave me this lovely Civil War Needlebook kit for my birthday and I stitched as fast as I could. Because the best part was it came with finishing. So when we visited in April she gave it to me finished. It is so nice and a great addition to my patriotic sewing things.
The Easter was taken down but the shelf was pretty empty. So glad to get my bee stuff out. Many lovely handmade gifts that remind me of my great friends. I am blessed to surround myself with people and things that make me happy.
Love this wool wall hanging done on toweling hanging on my red front door. Just finished last week...perfect for this beautiful spring day. Could keep this weather all the time.
Aunt Mary loves birds and this reminded me of her. I was able to get it done on her birthday, March 6th, to give to her on Sunday, Caleb's birthday. I am thrilled that she liked it.
Can't believe that 22 years ago our lives were changed with this TINY baby boy. He came into this world at full speed and continues onward. We love you Caleb.
Didn't go to the Texas basket weaving retreat this year but was able to go down for a visit. While there, Becky wove a black ash kit she had and I wove one that I had. Feeling very accomplished that we did them on our own. One kit down....several to go.
January and February die club cards were really nice. Cathi has moved to Thursday nights so Jenna and I had to make our own fun...but we succeeded.
Finished this wool banner....love it for the season of love. Luckily my mom, the finisher helper, put the sleeve on it so I could hang it. Fun day of playing today with mom and an old friend in mom's studio.
Had a great trip with beautiful weather and friends. We had lots of laughs, great food, and stitching time. I finished the chick Easter mat and the spring month for my crazy quilt hanger. I also stitched the wool banner for Valentine's Day but it went home with my friend the finisher. Came home to temps of 50 so not a total shock to the system.
All of the stitching was done in 2014 and the finishing on the pincushion and box done as well. But the scissor fob was finished tonight. Did all the hand sewing myself...even the cording. Hoping this is a good sign for the new year.
