Charmed, I'm sure

I had finished the friendship project for 2009, except we had exchanged charms to be put on. I'm no a hand sewer and had put off adding the charms, especially since it was already finished. But tonight I bit the bullet and put them on. Lisa and June's charms were put on the pincushion as well as the pin that Carole gave us. I put the charms from Monica, Kristin, and Carole by their initials on the right stitched piece. I love how it turned out. Still have to add my charm and my mom's, but this is a big deal for me.

Saturday was a work day

Saturday, Paul and I were both working......mine, great fun, laughter and relaxing, his, not as relaxing, but fun and laughter too. I finished my Carol Wingert kit at the Scrap Pink Crop at FKS. Paul did a landscape project for Aunt Mary. I have to say, his is way cooler than mine.

a mom-date with my boy

I had a "mom-date" with Chris on the Friday before he went back to school. We had errands to run, but were going to Pappy's Bar-b-que for lunch. We had never been there, but Chris had seen it on the food channel. When we got there, the line was out the door. The wait was not too long though, and the people in line with us were friendly. They had heard about Mom's Deli, so we were agreeing with them that they should try it and get the Mom's Special...the "only thing on the menu." Paul and I had stopped there before the Muny and he was going to look at the menu, but I told him he didn't need to. Chris agreed. I digress......so when we ordered our lunch, it came almost as we were sitting down. I had the pulled chicken sandwich, Chris had the pulled pork, and we shared a hot link frito-pie. All was sooo good. But then, a man brought out 2 ribs for Chris....a direct quote..."That was the best meat I've ever had." I liked them too, at least the little bite he shared. In normal Chris fashion, he talked to the man who brought him the ribs, as well as another man who we believe to be the owner.

While waiting for Chris to get refills as we were leaving, the owner and I were talking, he offered a camouflage hat for Chris. I didn't think he'd wear it, so I said no thanks, but I appreciated it. Silly me, I told Chris this later in the day and he was mad at me. He said that I was not allowed to make any decisions when it comes to food or food-related items for him. He said if we hadn't been so far away, he would have made me go back. So when he got home he emailed the owner about his mom's mistake. When Paul and I went back that next week with friends, the man had Chris' hat. Now I have to send it to him....guess that's my punishment for making incorrect decisions for him when it comes to food.

The Cardiac Burger and Chris become One

Went to Gianinos while Chris was home. He was going to get pasta, but saw the words, "Eat at your own risk" on the menu and knew it was a challenge. It was called the Cardiac Burger, 2 8 oz patties, 2 fried eggs, 2 pieces of cheese, 4 pieces of bacon, and onion straws. And all of that wonderful goodness is served on garlic bread. Not only did he eat it all, and like a man no doubt, he ate all of the fries, and some of his dad's pasta too.

A finish for August....really finished, too!

I finished some needlework in August....hard to believe, but having someone offer to finish it for me was just too much of an incentive. Here it is.....it's from Blackbird designs and it's a friendship piece. Several friends are all doing it and we exchanged charms to put on them. Monica made the cute matching notebook cover.
