EPIC finish

In 2008 we went to Williamsburg for a class with Merry Cox. The girls were there too, Monica, Carole, June, Lisa, and Kristin. We had such a good time. I started the scrapbook in a class with Nancy at FKS called innies & outies. The class was about going outside the page protector. It was a eye opening class for me; I tend to be very rigid.  I finally finished the album, all of the computer journaling and stamping and everything. Paul has proofread, found only one typo, and it has been corrected.  This empties an artbin....woo hoo.

Completion a year later

Last year at our annual Kentucky Lake retreat, we put together the book.  All that was left was the wool applique and the final sewing. I finished the applique this year at the lake and thanks to mom, it is assembled.  Nothing like a blank book.

We also did a great little ornament project that Monica brought for us. It involved origami folding and then we glued the fabric and refolded.  Hopefully I can redo this with Tina.

Cozumel.....taxi cab, shots, diamonds

Here's Cozumel in reverse order....a great port to end the cruise with Laura, Shari, and Aunt Carol. Many more new things for me.....starting off with Carlos & Charlies...all I can say is WOW. This is the back of the waiter's shirt....loved the saying. Unfortunately wasn't available to purchase.

Here is Laura on the carpet of her dreams. It was available for sale....just not anywhere near her price range. Shopping for a rug was a new and fun experience. We were taken to a room with hardwood floors and men just brought in rug after rug. They would then turn them each way so that we could see the color changes.

We spotted a live statue at The Forum....the shops at the Forum was where Ross (the ship's shopping guru) told us to go. Free margaritas....nice! Laura explained Hearts on Fire diamonds to me.

Our day started in a cab...I had never been in a cab in Mexico. Very fun and luckily, the return cab was much roomier! We spotted others from our group on the sidewalk and hooted and hollered to them.

And this is our ship in port. It was really beautiful in the water.

A wonderful trip....can't wait to see everyone's pictures. I am blessed to have had an opportunity to spend this time with such fun and interesting women....to be related to them is my pleasure.

Grand Cayman.....turtles & Hell

In Grand Cayman, my aunts, my mom, and my cousin and I went on an excursion to Hell, the Rum Factory, and the Turtle Farm. Hell.....nothing exciting. Rum Factory....nothing exciting. Turtle Farm....way cool. This is my cousin Karen holding a turtle about 18 months old. They would get excited and flap their flippers, but you could calm them by rubbing under their neck. Karen was good with them. I, too, held a turtle. Not like the Iguanas in Cozumel with the boys.

But, speaking of iguanas, they were around too. There were some in the trees at Hell, but on the beach with the turtles were several iguanas. Certainly not my favorite thing. Don't blink, Hell was a post office and lava rocks. Named because something about ducks and some one from England said "I must be in Hell."
Seven Mile Beach and the shore line. Very beautiful place. Forgot about the goats in Jamaica....our tour guide Kim P said that you could also call them dinner. They were running around all over, but she said if you approached them, their owner would surely appear. She also taught us some creole words....laba laba.....talks too much.

Bobsledding and a stupid thing

Jamaica was a port for new things for me. I went on an excursion with Shari and Laura, my cousins. We went bobsledding and then to Dunn's River Falls. Bobsledding was at Mystic Mountain. We took a 15 minute gondola ride to the top of the mountain. I decided to be hooked onto Laura's bobsled as then I wouldn't drive too slow. Laura never put the brakes on and the extra weight made it go even faster. There is a video, but it's just screaming. Won't bother you with that. May even be a bad word or two. That is Shari behind us. We heard her screaming too. Somewhere in the greenery, is her hat.
Then we went on to Dunn's River Falls. No pictures as you don't take anything with you that won't get wet. The whole time I was climbing the Falls, I kept thinking "this was the stupidist thing you have ever done, Barb." I pretty much looked down the entire time as I was afraid of falling. Shari kept saying we were at the top, NOT. I would have liked to step out at either of the two points you could have done that, but my Aunt Judy had done it a couple weeks prior and I certainly wasn't going to let her one up me. Needless to say, will NEVER do that again.

After our excursion, we sampled several kinds of rum cream-another new thing. I did like the banana rum cream and brought a bottle home with me.

Luckily, our second stop was Grand Cayman and that was a little milder.

Girls Cruise 2012

The Pleimann aunts and nieces went on a cruise. We left out of New Orleans and successfully got there from California, Colorado, Texas, Florida, South Dakota, Virginia, and Missouri. The luggage ranged from HUUUUGE to a backpack (go Ellen!). Here is our ship, which included an ice skating rink and a really cool promenade. Here are the nieces. We had two tables and confused our waiters Jamil and Igor, but they were really fun and the service was wonderful.
Here are the aunts. Don't they look lovely? There was not even a fashion consultation ahead of time; everyone just matched so well.
We stopped at Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. I will break them up into separate posts as they deserve it.

Ring the bell

When someone has a finish, or feels an accomplishment, Monica found a ringing bell app on her phone that we use to celebrate.

This was a Tim Holtz class from last summer. I just needed to glue down the ephemera and letters. Framed and it will be complete.
